The description does not go into the material used on the shaft. It's not latex, it's better, easier to keep clean and is as smooth as silk to the touch. You can also lock your setting in while in use. Hands down it's one of the best I have used. Worth every Penny. Yes, it looks plain Jane except for the color, but it'll pleasantly surprise you. If I didn't see it first in person I probably would not have bought it either, but again, it's worth every penny!
